The slide show will always contain twenty images. Occassionally images will be replaced as others occupy their slot. I tend to find as I work, I sometimes end up with two or three versions of the same image that I like equally well, but for different reasons. I'd always felt in the past it was necessary, almost a rule, to have just one definitive version of an image, I no longer feel confined by that idea and this will provide the possibility of showing more than one version of an image, though probably not at the same time.
Scotland, for me is an incredibly creative place and practically on my doorstep are a number of world class photographers who I have shamelessly borrowed from over the years and, if it's not over indulgent, I'd like to mention three of them. David Sams, Ian McInnes and Dave McAleavy have been among the biggest influences in my work as a photographer and have been just as important to me as Cecil Beaton, Mario Testino, Nick Knight, Sally Mann, Francesca Woodman and Paolo Roversi. I believe all of the above are giants in the art of photography.
Model shoots for me are usually not about the model. I don't mean that disrespectfully, I've been fortunate enough to work with some amazing models over the years, but for me it's about narrative, a moment that captures and summarises a situation. If I hire you as a model either for my own work, or for a client shoot, that's what I'll ask you to bring, a sense of drama and an ability to portray the bigger picture. JG.
